Comedy Night - Kevin Precious (8:00 pm)
£5adv
£7door

Teaching us to laugh!
It's not too often you see an RE teacher as a comedian.
However, Kevin Precious is leading the way with his own instantly recognisable stage presence and boundless wit, writes Denzil Fernandes.
In Not Appropriate, Precious explores his former life as a teacher.
In his distinctively dry and sarcastic manner, he told the audience of battles fought with unruly pupils and some of the peculiar characteristics of former teaching colleagues that, needless to say, rang bells with everyone.
"Comedy was something I'd really wanted to get into. I left teaching five years ago and started doing some supply work.
"I started off doing four days a week and slowly narrowed it down to three, then two. I haven't done it since last July."
A few of the jokes are more tailored to an audience of teachers, however, the overall show is jam-packed with observational humour that everybody recognises from their school days, and has you laughing when reliving those hilariously awkward school moments.
Precious is currently working on a new show about punk rock which he will be premiering this year at the Brighton Comedy Festival.

Doyle & The Fourfathers (8:00 pm)
£5

Doyle & The Fourfathers: Tipped all over the place for big things in 2012, Doyle & The Fourfathers come to Oswestry on the back of a successful tour with punk aristos The Undertones. Favourites of 6 Music's Marc Riley, they've been hailed as 'the heirs to The Smiths vacant throne'. Last year's debut album 'Man Made' demonstrated their many attributes - "accomplished, clever, nicely constructed and mature while still sounding fresh, vital and very much perfect for our times". They visit The Ironworks in the run up to the release of the Olympics Critical EP - the lead single of which, 'Welcome to Austerity' is causing a stir on radio as well as, astonishingly, on the Business Leader page of The Observer. Support: Sycamore Light (Llangollen) and Unusual Suspects (Oswestry) - A don't miss this event!

"Vampyr" with live score by Steven Sevrin (8:00 pm)
£5

Live in person, acclaimed solo artist and founder member of the legendary Siousie and the Banshees, Steven Severin presents a mesmerising synthesis of sound and image heightening appreciation of the surreal and enigmatic nature of the original work. Vampyr, Carl Theodor Dreyer's unsettling tale of fear and obsession finds its aural counterpart in Severin's suitably textured score, a synthesised, highly atmospheric soundscape drawing the viewer rhythmically into the oneiric imagery on screen.
Loosely based on Sheridan Le Fanu's genre-defining, 1872 vampire tale, Carmilla (which preceded Bram Stoker's Dracula by 25 years), Vampyr follows the fortunes of Allan Gray, a young student of the occult, who takes rooms at a village inn, little realising that the region is cursed by vampires.
Featuring The People's Vinyl Collective DJ's playing records before and after the screening.
